Wesley Locke is a National Board Certified Teacher in Early and Middle Childhood/Music and has 25 years of professional music experience. He is currently the music teacher at Spring Creek Charter Elementary School in Paisley, Florida where he teaches General Music for grades Pre-K through 5th grade and a Beginning Band for 6th grade.

Wes was a member of the United States Marine Corps Band from 1981 to 1988 and was stationed at Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego, California, where he served as a musician, Drum Major, and Platoon Sergeant. He was selected to serve as a Marine Recruiter from 1988 to 1991. Wes received his Bachelors of Music Education degree from Stetson University in 1995. Wes has since taught music at Eustis High School, Umatilla High School, Umatilla Middle School, and Spring Creek Elementary School. In November of 2007 Mr. Locke was awarded National Board Certification in Early and Middle Childhood/Music by the National Board of Professional Teaching Standards. Wes has also served as the music director of the First Presbyterian Church of Umatilla since 1992.

In 2006 Wes and his wife, Juliet, were discussing how to get their son, who is homeschooled, involved in music when Juliet said: ”Why don`t you start a homeschool band? You know how to do that!” With that the idea for the Lake Winds Home School Band was born!
